In 2008-9, our Welcome/Orientation will be held on Thursday, September 11 from 6 pm until approximately 8P30 pm at Lake Storey Pavilion. It will focus on providing a welcoming experience for our incoming class and to help orientate them to their LGG responsibilities. We will also look at the past of our community to help us understand the present – and our future.
Our daytime workshops are normally held on Thursdays from 7:30 am until approximately 4:30 pm. They are held in a different location each month as we move around our community and open our eyes to some of the outstanding treasures we have right in our own backyards!
Our September 25 workshop will focus on the capacity of FACILITATION. Our class members will learn how to bring out the best ideas and viewpoints from others, and how to include those ideas in the decision-making process.
The LGG workshop held on October 16 will concentrate on LEARNING STYLES. We will also continue our discussion about the past of our community to help us understand now – and our vision for the future.
At our October 30 workshop we will learn more about what it is to be a SERVANT LEADER and the characteristics which a servant leader embodies.
The November 13 workshop will deal with CONSENSUS AND COLLABORATION. As the class begins the decision-making process for the class project, the skills learned today are especially helpful.
January 15, 2009, we will be discussing CULTURAL DIVERSITY. Understanding the benefits of cultural diversity as well as focusing on understanding ourselves – and developing an inclusive mindset is crucial to a growing and thriving community.
The workshop on February 19 will feature BNSF AND AGRICULTURE. We will learn more about how important the railroad and agriculture are to the future growth and sustainability of our community.
March 19 we will be learning more about our CITY GOVERNMENT AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. These entities are crucial to the future growth of our community and allow us to be on the cutting edge.
Our final workshop on April 16 will deal with CONFLICT RESOLUTION AND BUSINESS ETHICS. These skills are very important as the class prepares to take their leadership skills and capacities they have mastered during the year into their personal, business and community lives.
